What is Aromatherapy 何謂芳香療法?

Aromatherapy can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants, herbs, seeds, resins, flowers, etc to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.

 

 

Aromatherapy是由二個字組成 - aroma 的意思為"芳香";therapy的意思為"治療"。芳香療法乃利用各種不同植物的花、枝葉、種子、樹脂及水果等萃取而得的高濃度精油所產生的香氣,來舒緩、純淨身心的一種自然療法 。

芳療的歷史也有五千年之久,可追朔國家有埃及、中國、印度、希臘等並且廣泛使用在藥物治療、美容產品、按摩和精神上或一些宗教儀式 。

香薰療法能作為針炙、同類療法及草藥療法等自然療法原理的互補作用;能消除身體疲勞、減輕精神壓力、調適生理機能、有效的預防及治療各種症狀。許多人已經開始察覺到人造合成葯物所引起的副作用,因此純香精油在近幾年已受到大眾的注目,而香薰療法也普遍的受到大眾的認同與肯定。
